My older sister is a professional chef. Many of her recipes take a little time, but boy are they worth it. This is an organic black bean recipe that will blow your mind! Here are the easy steps. I like this better than the black beans that are often made with lard at the Mexican restaurants. I have made this vegan, but I like better with a large chunk of butter added. Warm and comforting, I try to make these once a month and they can be frozen.
First you need to buy organic dried black beans and soak them in water over night. I did about a half pound for this recipe but it’s not an exact science and will take some tasting and eye balling.
Start with cold water and slowly simmer the beans for 20-30 minutes.
Add 1/2 jar GourGanics and a tasty source of oil. I prefer a quarter stick of butter, but a vegan replacement works wonders.
Let this cook until the salsa and water for about 10 minutes and serve. If they seem too watery, you can tighten them up with a slurry of cornstarch and water or a few tablespoons of tomato paste.
I lke them best over rice with a sprinkling of cheese or vegan cheese replacement.
